ABS-CBN upcoming shows for 2010
MANILA, Philippines – No one would have thought that after 18 years, one of the teleseryes which really had a mark on viewers’ lives will have a television comeback.
At the Bi-Da iDOL ABS-CBN Trade Launch on Wednesday, the network bared the return of “Mara Clara”. This is the show which paved the way for the success of today’s Queen of Teleserye, Judy Ann Santos.
However, ABS-CBN left its viewers anticipating on who will star in the remake of the unforgettable soap.
New shows
As the Kapamilya network celebrates its 60 years of Pinoy Soap Opera, it also announced its upcoming shows.
Angel Locsin and John Lloyd Cruz will star in their first TV project together, a fantasy series entitled “Imortal”.
Another offering of the Precious Hearts Romances will be starred in by Shaina Magdayao as “Alyna” who is facing a dilemma on which person to love.
There will also be another “Your Song Presents” series which will feature the love story of two people played by Christian Bautista and Carmen Soo.
ABS-CBN also announced the comeback of another teleserye, “Kokey @ Ako”, starring Toni Gonzaga and Vhong Navarro.
The highlight of the event was the launching of the musical teleserye entitled “iDOL”. This will be Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo's third musical-drama series as she already starred in “Bituing Walang Ningning” and “Pangarap na Bituin” before.
Geronimo will be joined by Sam Milby and Coco Martin in the said series.

Idol star Coco Martin denies Kris Aquino’s public announcement that he is courting Erich Gonzales. He said that they are just good friends and he does not have plans of courting her. Nung sinasabi sa akin yung about (sa mga issues tungkol sa amin ni) Erich sabi ko nga, ‘Paano naman nangyari?'" Matagal naman na kami nagte-text ni Erich, e. Since Erich is also being linked to her Magkaribal co-star Enchong Dee, the press asked Coco if he is on good terms with the former. "Bakit naman hindi? Kaibigan ko rin si Enchong. Wala naman dahilan para hindi kami maging okay.Minsan nagbibiruan kami pero dahil sa akin wala namang...ewan ko kay Enchong, pero feeling ko magkaibigan din lang naman sila, e."
While he is being linked to Kapamilya stars, Coco reveals that he prefers a non-showbiz girlfriend. "Kung saka-sakali, gusto ko yung non-showbiz, mahirap kasi kung sa showbiz, kumplikado, e. Magulo. Alam naman natin yung buhay dito. And actually walang (specific) na qualities (na hinahanap), gusto ko lang naman yung simple. Kaya gusto ko hangga't maaari ayoko ng artista."

Maricar Reyes says she is not ABS-CBN's favorite star
From appearing in print ads and TV commercials, Maricar Reyes decided to venture into acting in 2008 via the teleserye I Love Betty La Fea where she played John Lloyd Cruz’s ex-girlfriend. Since then, Maricar has become one of the most visible faces on TV, with the teleseryes Precious Hearts Romances presents Bud Brothers, Lovers in Paris, and Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo, and movies And I Love You So, and Miss You Like Crazy.
Now that she has another teleserye, Imortal starring John Lloyd and Angel Locsin, there have been speculations that Maricar is ABS-CBN management’s favorite star. But she told reporters who visited the set of Imortal that she would like to believe that her home network is entrusting her with big projects because she really has the talent. “Sana naman [nabibigyan ako ng mga projects] kasi marunong din akong umarte. Sana, he he he. But you can’t please everybody. I’m praying that I get to prove myself.”
Maricar added that there’s no reason for other Kapamilya stars to be envious of her. She shared that so far everybody she had worked with has been very nice to her. “Maybe I’ve just been very lucky kasi so far ang mga nakakatrabaho ko are so professional, so nice. Wala pa naman akong nami meet na hindi nice.”
Having been named as the Best New Female TV Personality by the PMPC Star Awards, Maricar has so far received encouraging reviews for her acting. She credits this to the directors and actors who inspire her to deliver a raving performance. Maricar also talked about how her Imortal co-stars John Lloyd and Angel are inspiring her to become a better actor. “Nakaka-intimidate sila. Kaya nga kinakabahan pa rin ako every time makakasama ko sila sa eksena. Pero napaka friendly rin nila at very professional. Siguro nakakahawa kasi sila. Kapag nakita mo silang umarte, sila na agad ‘yung mga characters nila. Hindi na sila sina Angel at John Lloyd. Ang galing nila. Sana mahawa ako, ha ha ha!”
The model-turned-actress expressed her excitement that with Imortal, she gets to play a character that is different from the ones she had done before. “Napakasaya ko kasi sa awa ng Diyos na bless na naman ako ng isa pang project. Nakakatuwa rin na kakaiba ito sa mga roles na ginawa ko dati. May pagka kontrabida ako this time kaya medyo mapaglalaruan ko ‘yung character. Isa akong bampira dito, si Samantha. Anak siya ng isang lead vampire.”
Enchong Dee first thought he couldn’t be a ‘showbiz person
Inilabas kahapon sa The Buzz ang panayam kay Enchong Dee hinggil sa isyung iniiwasan daw umano ng aktor ang nasagasaan niyang lalaki. Naganap ang nasabing aksidente noong Agosto 4 sa may Taft Avenue kung saan nagkabanggaan ang kotse ni Enchong at isang public jeepney. “Wala akong kasalanan dun sa nangyari. Kahit ‘yung mismong guard on duty sa lugar na ‘yon na nagbigay ng report sinasabi niya hindi ako ang may kasalanan,” kuwento ni Enchong kay Boy Abunda. Kahit daw kasi naka-stop na ay tumakbo pa rin ang driver ng jeep. “Sabi ng pulis na nandun ay ‘yung jeepney driver ang may kasalanan, I was at the right place and sumunod lang ako (sa batas trapiko).”
Sa nangyaring banggaan ay naipit naman ang paa ng isang pasahero ng jeep na si Marlon Bonalos dahil nakalabas ang kanyang paa sa sasakyan. Sinabi rin ng kinauukulan na walang kasalan si Enchong dahil responsibilidad umano ng driver na sabihan ang pasahero nito na
ipasok ang paa sa jeep.
Gayunpaman pumunta pa rin si Enchong sa ospital para kamustahin ang naaksidenteng lalaki sapagkat ito raw ang tamang gawin. Nagbigay umano siya ng P700 kay Marlon para sa mga kailangan niya sa mga oras na iyon. Sa parehong araw raw ay nagbigay din siya ng P3,000
upang mapatingin ang paa ni Marlon at makabili ng mga kinakailangang gamot.
Agosto 15 daw ay muling nag-text ang lalaki kay Enchong upang humingi uli ng tulong subalit hindi na nakadalaw si Enchong dahil isinugod din siya ospital dahil sa dengue. Nagpadala pa raw uli siya ng P3,000 at isang saklay. Punto pa ni Enchong, covered na raw lahat ng medical expenses at gamot nang unang iniabot niyang tulong.
Masama kasi ang loob ng aktor dahil sa pagpapa-interview ng lalaki sa kabilang istasyon at sa mga akusasyon nito. Depensa raw ng lalaki sinabi raw ng crew na pumunta sa bahay niya na hindi raw sila aalis hangga’t hindi siya nagpapa-interview. Bilang tugon naman sa pagpapa-interview ng lalaki, ito ang sinabi ni Enchong, “Sinabi mo magpakalalaki ako. Unang-una, kung hindi ako nagpakalalaki, nung oras pa lang na sinabi ng mga pulis na wala akong kasalanan, umalis na sana ako. Hindi na sana ako nag-abot ng tulong. Nakakalungkot lang na after all the help, ganito pa ang nangyari. Sana naiintindihan mo ang lahat ng nangyayari,” paliwanag na lamang ng aktror sa interview.
Jake Cuenca recalls his struggling days in showbiz
Jake Cuenca has never been ashamed about his rebel past. In his interviews, he would often talk about being a disobedient teenage son and an irresponsible student. It was during those times when he toyed with the idea of joining showbiz.
But in his interview with StarStudio Magazine, the 22-year-old star revealed how he discovered showbiz to be a tough competitive world. He was only 14 when he struggled to land a role on TV. All that he was given back then were bit and supporting roles. With few jobs came little income, so at times he would swallow his pride and ask for money from his parents. “I also didn’t have a car so I would take the bus or MRT to tapings,” he told StarStudio.
Add to that the harsh discrimination that looms around showbiz. Jake shared that one time when he was just a newbie, he heard someone whisper that he should just stick to being a model because it seemed he had no chance of improving his acting. Deeply hurt, Jake had no choice but to suck it all up. “It was really not easy. I began to think that maybe showbiz was not for me because I wasn’t landing work, I wasn’t generating enough money or excelling.”

Maria Venus Raj favors having a Filipino translator in the Miss Universe pageant
Sa panayam ni Maria Venus Raj sa The Buzz kahapon, sinabi ng pambato ng ‘Pinas sa katatapos na Miss Universe pageant na inasahan niya na niya na siya ang magiging fourth runner-up matapos ang question and answer portion ng show. “After the question and answer (portion), yes (inasahan ko). May final walk, ‘di ba, after the q and a, parang naglalakad ako (nasa isip ko) fourth runner-up, fourth runner-up,” natatawa niyang sabi. “Ako very positive pa rin na matawag na manalo pero nakikita mo ‘yung reaction ng mga tao at judges.”
Hindi rin daw siya napipikon na naging trademark niya ang “major, major” dahil sa isinagot niya during the Q&A portion. “At least every time na sasabihin ng mga tao kahit na siguro matanda na ako o may pamilya na ako, ‘pag sasabihin nila ‘yung ‘major major’, ‘Ay si ganito ito ng Miss Universe!’ Pag andun ka unconscious ka sa mga sinasabi mo, siguro hindi ako aware na inulit ko na siya ng dalawang beses.”
Tinanong din si Venus kung pabor ba siya sa mungkahi ng iba na magkaroon na ng translator ang mga pambato ng Pilipinas sa mga international beauty contests. “Sa akin po okay lang kasi iba po nga naman ‘yung pag-explain ng mga bagay-bagay when it’s in your language. Parang hindi ka na mag-iisip kung ano ang tamang words na gagamitin.”
Kung sino ba sa tingin niya ang deserving na mag-uwi ng korona, ang sagot ni Venus ay, “Miss Mexico really deserves the crown pero I know Miss Australia from the start, kasi kasama ko po siya sa tour and kami ‘yung roommate.”
Bukas naman daw si Venus sa pag-aartista at malaking karangalan daw sa kanya kung mapabilang sa fashion-serye na Magkaribal.
Will the Claudine Barretto-Angelica Panganiban rift end in a libel suit?
Patuloy ang pag-init pa ng iringan sa pagitan nina Claudine Barretto at Angelica Panganiban. Kamakailan ay napabalitang balak magsampa ng kaso ni Claudine laban kay Angelica dahil sa diumano’y mapanirang akusasyon ng huli laban sa kanya hinggil sa kanyang personal na buhay. Sa text message ni Mr. M ay sinabing makasisira daw umano ang sasabihin ni Angelica sa career ni Claudine kaya nagmamalasakit ito pero hindi raw matatanggap ng aktres ang mga kasiraan sa kanya. Hinamon din ni Mr. M si Claudine na ituloy ang balak nitong magdemanda pero handa raw silang lumaban.
Naglabas na rin ng official statement ang kampo ni Angelica sa pamamagitan ng legal counsel nito na si Atty. Joji Alonso. Narito ang kabuuan ng nasabing pahayag.
“Angelica has been advised to maintain her silence. There is no need for her to say anything, more so, in reaction to what has been said, she has not done anything wrong, much less, maligned Claudine. On the contrary, it is Angelica who is being maligned by these unfounded accusations.
“Neither is there a need to dignify this incident by saying something more than what has already been said. It is hoped that with this statement this issue comes to an end. Whatever more is said against Angelica shall be a cause for the filing of the appropriate civil and criminal cases.”

Sarah Geronimo denies that she will leave ABS-CBN after 'Idol'
There have been reports that Sarah Geronimo will no longer renew her contract with ABS-CBN when it expires this December. Rumor has it that her talent agency, Viva, wants her to transfer to another network so that she could further her showbiz career. But the Popstar was quick to refute such reports, saying that she is very happy with the way the Kapamilya network has taken care of her all these years. “Naku, bakit ko naman po iiwanan ang ABS-CBN? Ang laki-laki ho ng naitulong sa akin ng ABS-CBN. [And] may ginagawa po kaming show so bakit naman po ako lilipat?” she said during a recent press visit to the set of her upcoming musical-drama, Idol.
Even her mom, Divine Geronimo, was clearly surprised when the local press asked her about the issue. “Ay wala kaming alam d’yan. Diyos ko, huwag naman ganyan, bad ‘yan!” Nevertheless, Sarah stressed that she would have to ask her manager first if there’s truth to such speculations. “Wala po akong alam sa mga pinipirmahan ko. Hahaha! Hayaan ni’yo po, tatanungin ko si Boss Vic (Del Rosario) kung totoo talaga ‘yan,’” she added.
Sarah still remained unfazed when prodded about the possibility of being compared to Charice who will soon be seen in the American TV musical, Glee. As it was, some Filipino viewers claim that Idol merely copied the concept of the Hollywood show. “Ay! Ano ba, i-compare ba sa Glee? Siyempre ibang-iba naman po ang Idol. Magkapareho lang sa aspect na musical TV show siya, pero iba naman po ang storya. At Glee yun! Iba ang followers ng Glee, iba rin naman siguro ang followers ng Idol. O pwede ring pareho ‘di ba? Sana [ganon ang mangyari]. Basta huwag na lang po natin i-compare.”
Angel Locsin admits she feels pressured to make 'Imortal' as successful as 'Lobo
Angel Locsin will soon return to action-fantaserye, the genre where people learned to love her as an actress, via the upcoming ABS-CBN teleserye Imortal which pairs her with John Lloyd Cruz. Angel further revealed that while Imortal is a sequel to her past teleserye, Lobo, it has a twist. “Continuation siya ng Lobo. Pero kung sa tingin niyo alam niyo na ‘yung kwento ng Lobo, iba itong Imortal. Ngayon magugulat kayo kasi panibagong mundo naman ‘yung ipapakita namin sa inyo.”
Lobo, which was aired in 2008 and starred Angel and Piolo Pascual, was awarded the Best Telenovela Program in the BANFF World Television Festival and earned Angel a Best Actress nomination from the 37th International Emmy Awards. Angel admitted that she is feeling the pressure to make Imortal as successful as Lobo, but for her, thinking about that too much will not do help. “Sa kahit anong project na ginagawa natin may pressure. Pero hindi na dapat iniisip masyado ‘yun. Dapat ang nasa isip mo lang is kung paano mapapaganda ‘yung trabaho mo. Hindi na dapat nagiisip ng bad vibes. Dapat puro positive things na lang para positive vibes din ‘yung dala mo pagdating sa set. Kapag may pressure kasi mas lalo mong hindi nagagawa nang maayos ‘yung trabaho mo. Dapat hindi ka na lang nagpapaapekto sa pressure.”
She further explained that doing Lobo was a different experience since that was her first teleserye after moving to the Kapamilya network. During that time, she felt she had to prove to the management and to everyone that her move was a good choice. “Mas grabe ang pressure sa Lobo kasi first teleserye ko ‘yun sa ABS-CBN. Kailangan may mapatunayan ako agad. First time ko rin makaranas ng ganung klaseng acting. Dito naman sa Imortal, handa na ako sa kung ano ang ipapagawa sa akin. Dati sa Lobo talaga nasha-shock ako na, ‘Ay! Ganito pala sa ABS-CBN!’ Ang mga tao dito perfectionist.”
Most of Angel’s TV projects are of the action-fantasy genre, Lobo and Imortal included. While many stars are afraid of being typecast, the 25-year-old actress said she doesn’t mind doing action-fantasy over and over again. “Gusto ko talaga ma-identify sa action. ‘Yun talaga ang sinabi ko sa ABS-CBN nung dumating ako. Kasi pagawin mo ako ng fight scene ng alas sais ng umaga, go ako. As much as possible ako talaga ang gumagawa ng fight scenes. Sumasama nga loob ko kapag may double ako. Pero siyempre, kapag kailangan ihagis ako, hindi na talaga ako papayagan, ha ha ha! Baka kasi kapag napilayan ako mas maging cause of delay pa.”

Angel Locsin doesn't need to teach John Lloyd Cruz how to act in a fantaserye
Many are excited about the first team up of Angel Locsin and John Lloyd Cruz via the upcoming ABS-CBN fantaserye, Imortal. When reporters interviewed Angel on the set, she shared how she is having a great time working with John Lloyd. “Okay kami ni John Lloyd kasi nakakatuwa, kung titingnan mo tahimik lang. Pero kapag nakakwentuhan mo na ang dami niyang alam. Kaya kapag may eksena kami, looking forward talaga ako. Kasi in between takes, kapag set-up, nakakapagkwentuhan kami. Ang dami kong natututunan sa kanya na bago. Exciting talaga.”
Whenever they would get to chat on the set, John Lloyd would talk about his relationship with his family and the other things that he does outside of showbiz. “Nalaman ko rin kung gaano siya ka-attached sa family. Hanggang ngayon nakatira pa rin siya kasama ‘yung family niya. Ipinakita niya sa akin ‘yung bagong bahay niya. Nakwento niya ‘yung mga investments niya, mga ibang plano niya sa buhay. Pero siyempre marami pa rin akong dapat ma-discover sa kanya kaya excited ako na makasama pa siya every day.”
Also according to Angel, Imortal paved the way for her to get know the “John Lloyd” known for his acting prowess and professionalism. Angel shared, “Kasi first time ko talaga siya maka trabaho. Ang alam ko lang sa kanya e ‘yung kung ano ang alam ng lahat, na napakagaling niyang aktor. Nakita ko kasi kung paano siya mag prepare sa isang eksena. Walang biro, kina-career niya talaga. Darating siya sa set alam na niya ang linya niya. Kapag tinawag na siya, tatayo agad ‘yan. First time kong nakakita ng artistang bagong gising…. ‘di ba tayo kapag bagong gising mo-moment muna, pero siya tayo agad. So ako, mapipilitan na ring tumayo agad.”
With this, Angel said there’s no need for her to assist John Lloyd in doing a fantaserye like Imortal. This project is John Lloyd’s first fantasy series, while Angel has done several in the past. She played a wolf/woman in the teleserye Lobo which earned her a Best Actress nomination from the International Emmy Awards. “Hindi ko na siya kailangan i-guide kasi ang galing galing na niya umarte! Tumigil nga siya! Ha ha ha!,” the actress answered with a laugh.
She further revealed that John Lloyd handled his fight scenes in Imortal with grace. “Bago sa kanya angfantaserye,pero parang hindi naman! Ganun siya kagaling. Hindi obvious na bago sa kanya ‘to. Action star na kaya ‘yan! ‘Yung action scenes niya hindi pilit. May lalim. Natural. Leading man pa rin ang dating niya.”
John Lloyd Cruz regrets that the movie sequel with Sarah Geromino will not push through
During a press visit to the set of Imortal, John Lloyd Cruz’s teleserye with Angel Locsin, the dramatic actor said that he feels the pressure to live up to being branded as the best actor of his generation. Imortal is his first-ever fantaserye and that he is still learning the ropes of this genre. “From my end naman as a participant in this project medyo bago nga ito dahil ngayon lang ako sasabak sa ganitong genre na may halong fantasy dahil for the past how many years ang ginagawa ko lang base sa drama [at] base sa real life so eto medyo nangangapa pa tayo.”
However, the actor is confident that Imortal has the potential to be a hit because the entire production team has worked hard to make the show really good. “We’re doing everything to make this work and para mapaganda,” he assured.
Lloydy was also asked about his opinion on Sarah Geronimo’s refusal to do the third installment of their blockbuster hit movie A Very Special Love (2008). The Pop Star Princess said in her previous interviews that she could not handle the pressure to outdo the huge success of the first two installments.
Though he did not share Sarah’s opinion at first, John Lloyd said that he respects Sarah’s choice and that it would be hard to push through with the project when Sarah is not up to it. “Everything happens for a reason and also all things work out for the best,” he justified. “Siguro ito ‘yung dapat mangyari. Mahirap din naman gawin ang isang bagay na may tumutulol o hindi naniniwala. Ang hirap lang kasi we had that [special chemistry], eh. During the filming of [A Very Special Love] for the first few days, ang hirap paniwalain ng tao that we can make this work [but] then tinuloy lang natin and then when it came out, boom!”
He continued that he might have had a hard time accepting Sarah’s decision had there been a script for the movie already. “Baka nanghinayang ako kung nakita ko ‘yung script at nakita ko na may pupuntahan pa palang maganda. Buti na lang wala, na hindi na umabot do'n,” he reasoned.
Unlike Sarah, John Lloyd pointed out that he would have agreed to give their supposed third movie together a chance for many reasons. “I was wondering also kung saan pa ba pupunta ‘yung storya. I was willing to give it a shot, I was willing to wait ‘till the creative team comes up with a script and tingnan ko kung ano bang pupuntahan kasi I strongly feel we owe to the audience na nagmahal sa team-up nina Migui and Laida (characters of Lloydy and Sarah), ‘yun lang ang tingin ko.”
Aga Muhlach on his movie with Angel Locsin: 'Mahirap!'
While Aga Muhlach describes working on his new movie with Angel Locsin as strenuous, he was also ecstatic about the big Star Cinema production. "Okay naman, mahirap lang yung movie namin. He said that for now, he and Angel will just have to work hard and give their best. What adds to the grandness of the movie is that he is performing several kinds of dances. "And our dancing? We rehearse all the time. Ang dancing namin you are not just performing. It is a dance na biglang may eksena dun na habang sumasayaw dun nagkakapatayan. Nag-aaway kami sa tango, may mga ganun. Ibang-iba… That's why when it was offered sa akin sabi ko, 'Wow! Ganda. This is the movie talaga.’ And then nung ginagawa ko na I realized, 'Kaya ko ba ito?' Malakas naman yung katawan ko kaya lang when you start dancing again now, ito na yung reality na you have to rehearse every other day… And I am doing seven dances. I have yung pasa doble, yung may toro na may (stomps feet). And there's hip-hop, dalawang klaseng tango, Argentine and American and Rumba. Mahirap!"
Aga shared that when it comes to his work, he is lifting everything to the Lord. "Pagkatapos nitong pelikulang ito, hindi naman ako pwedeng magplano ng buhay ko kasi wala naman tayo magagawa diyan but yung set-up ko perfect na, e. Kay Regine (Velasquez), kay Angel, tapos Lea (Salonga) so kapag nabuo na yun, tsaka na uli mag-isip. Sa ngayon wala na ako iba iniisip yun na lang."

Sarah Geronimo wants to be friends with Cristine Reyes
ABS-CBN.com visited the set of Idol last August 24 where lead actress Sarah Geronimo welcomed the press who arrived in the middle of a downpour. "Blessed ako kasi tingnan niyo naman yung nangyayari sa kapaligiran natin (referring to the hostage drama), ito ako nagtatrabaho ng maayos kumpleto kami ng pamilya ko, I am very happy." Sarah is thankful and very proud of her new project and frankly gave her statements on opinions that Idol is a Glee (the Hollywood musical series) rip-off. "Kinopya ba? Hindi…Iba naman yung story. Parang ibang-iba naman yung story niya. Hindi naman namin ide-deny yung fact na Glee-inspired siya pero iba ang story. Love story about sa family."
Sarah also dismissed rumors that she will leaving ABS-CBN after her contract expires. She expressed how happy she is with ABS-CBN and does not see herself leaving her second family. "Hindi po. Ang laki po ng naitulong ng ABS-CBN sa career ko, bakit ko naman iiwan ang ABS-CBN? Very blessed ako na naging Kapamilya ako."
Meanwhile, she also cleared up the rumors that she and ASAP co-host Cristine Reyes are not on good terms supposedly because of Rayver Cruz. "Ay, hindi [totoo yan], fan ako ni Cristine. Hindi ako echosera. Kasi hinahangaan ko siya sa beauty niya, yung kanyang pagiging sexy. Tsaka mukha namang mabait si Cristine, hindi kami nagdededmahan. Sa amin ni Cristine wala namang dahilan." She added that she wants to become friends with Cristine and that working with the sexy actress wouldn't be a problem at all. "Sana gusto ko siyang maging kaibigan talaga, kung mabibigyan ako ng chance."
Sarah also gave an update about her dad, Delfin Geronimo, who was recently almost kidnapped. Though as for their legal actions, she was not allowed to speak by the court handling the case. Sarah said that the incident changed their lifestyle. "Okay naman po si daddy. Siyempre hindi po maiiwasan na ngayon may pagka-paranoid na talaga, may security na kasi dati wala talaga. Alam mo yung dati simpleng simple lang na kahit saan kami pumunta kami kami lang. Ngayon talagang may takot na rin, e. Hindi na po pwede basta basta aalis na kami kami lang, lagi na pong may kasamang bodyguard. Sosyal," Sarah shared while laughing.
Sarah hopes that the incident will be a warning for everyone. But she admits that she wants to forget what happened. "As much as possible ayoko na rin pong isipin kasi pangit naman mabuhay na in fear ka, yung lagi kang may takot. Sabi ka ni Kuya Ogie (Alcasid) si Lord ang ating best security.”

Coco Martin said that he’s really thrilled about his team-up with Sarah Geronimo in Idol because a lot of people have already noticed their unexpected chemistry based on the trailers alone. But he refused to be romantically linked to the Popstar Princess for fear that it would only cause conflict for them on the set. “Siyempre masaya at nakakatuwa na ganon, pero yung mabigyan ng malisya, yun ang iniiwasan namin. Alam ni’yo naman si Sarah, isang parang basong babasagin na dapat pag-ingatan. E ngayon maayos po kaming magtrabaho. Huwag na nating pag-usapan dahil baka magkaroon lang ng issue,” he pleaded with ABS-CBN.com and other reporters during a press visit on the set of the much-awaited musical drama.
The critically-acclaimed actor admitted, however, that it’s possible for him to develop feelings for Sarah since he finds her innocent charm very attractive. But he is aware how protective Sarah’s parents can be and he doesn’t want to ruin the good rapport that he has with them as well. “Bakit naman hindi? Kumbaga Sarah Geronimo ‘yan. Nakita mo naman kung gaano kabuti at kabait sa akin yung mga magulang niya. Pero siyempre bata pa si Sarah at marami pang pangarap para sa kanya ang mga magulang niya,” he stressed.
When asked if he easily gets discouraged by a girl’s strict parents, Coco was quick to say that he’s actually the type who fights for the one he loves even against all odds. “Siyempre kung mahal mo ang isang tao, kahit ano pa yung humaharang diyan, ipaglalaban mo. Madami na akong na-experience na ganyan. Hahaha! Kasi ako kapag nagmahal, hindi lang todo, kahit hanggang kamatayan ’yan. Pero siyempre depende kung yun talaga yung tingin mo makakatuluyan mo.”
While Coco is single, he would prefer to have a non-showbiz girlfriend since pursuing someone from the business would only make the relationship complicated. “Wala naman akong standard o ano. Basta gusto ko yung simple. Kaya nga sabi ko hangga’t maaari ayaw ko muna ng artista e. Kung anong meron at nandiyan at napupusuan ko, ‘di yun. Kaya lang wala pa rin akong nakilala sa ngayon dahil palaging busy. Pero ’di bale, madali na lang yun,” he beamed.
Billy Crawford hopes to regain international career
Billy Crawford said he is not worried if his career in the international scene had to lie low for a time in favor of his local career. “Ang habol ko naman actually is not fame, it’s actually the accomplishment,” he said. “You know when you try something and it works, you go with it.” The performer explained that if one puts it in his head that he is on the top, the only other way to go is down. “When you're number one, wala ka nang ibang pupuntahan, eh, so it's a start program again. Pero never ako nagsabi na I stopped my international career.”
Billy shot to fame in Europe in 2001 and was enjoying international success before he went back to the Philippines in 2007. "There's always the right time and the right moment to, actually, do something outside of the Philippines. Napansin ko minsan, when I was in France, 'yong support ng Pilipinas nandoon. When I came back the first time, sobrang grabe," he related.
“Tapos one time na bumalik ako sa Pilipinas, sabi nila, 'Alam mo bumalik ka na roon, ipakita mo sa kanila...' So, by next year, promise ko, I will do something outside the Philippines again," he assured. He added that he has started recording songs already for his upcoming album, which he intends to release in the international market.
In many instances, many singers or performers have a hard time picking up fame again after a long break, but Billy is confident that he has strong chances of making it big again. “From what I hear sa mga kakilala ko ro’n, kilala pa rin ako, I went there nang nag-tour kami ni Sarah (Geronimo), nilalapitan pa rin nila ako,” he explained.
Billy also believes that there is truth in the saying “absence makes the heart grow fonder.” “Mas maganda nga ‘yung nawala ka kasi masasabik sila, eh. Tinatanong nila kung ano ba ang ginagawa ko ngayon. Actually, updated sila kasi may Pilipinas Got Talent (which he hosted previously) na nabalitaan nila na parang, ‘Uy, he’s hosting in the Philippines.’ Sa kanila iba ‘yun. Sa akin it was like andito ako sa bahay ko, ‘di ba? Tingnan na lang natin siguro, pag-usapan natin siguro ‘pag lumabas na ang album ko, pagbalik ko dito.”
He added that he is not worried that his local career might lag behind if he decides to concentrate on his career in Europe soon. “I think sa Philippines sususportahan ka pa rin naman, eh. Si Arnel (Pineda) matagal ding nawawala minsan because he’s with Journey pero pagbalik niya dito ay [mainit pa rin ang] tanggap ng mga Pinoy sa kanya."
Billy will also celebrate his 25 years in the business via a three-day concert at the Music Museum called 25 BC which will run on September, 11, 18 and 25. Some of his special guests are Sarah Geronimo, Nikki Gil, Iya Villania, and many others.
Aga Muhlach on wife Charlene Gonzales: 'Pareho kaming masyado masaya
Aga Muhlach chose to quietly celebrate his birthday last August 12, but it all became a blast when his wife Charlene Gonzales did an "ambush" interview with him for The Buzz. "Sabi ko nga I was a very reluctant celebrant this year and then my wife surprised me with this interview, pinuntahan ako sa taping ko and then ang nangyari, ito pa yung naging pinakamalaki kong…Because it was televised, that interview, siyempre naging very sensitive ako nun and sentimental imbis na maging quiet lang pero it was nice ang saya."
Because of the said interview, many fans and supporters appreciated him even more. The press even teased him that he gained even more admirers. Aga shared that he has nothing to wish for himself, but for the country. "Wish ko is really for our country na maging maayos talaga lahat nakakalungkot kapag may mga nangyayari…kasi minsan kapag dino-Diyos na ng tao ang pera talaga, nawawala na ang kaligayahan, nagkakapalpak-palpak na lahat. Maraming tao na ganun parang nakakalimutan nila na hindi naman pera ang nakakapagpasaya sa ating lahat. Yes, it's important, we all work for that nakakatulong sa atin yan pero hindi dapat yan ang maging punu't-dulo ng kaligayahan natin."
The press also asked them if they plan on having more kids. "Nung una sinasabi namin na we don't know, hindi talaga namin pinaplano. If you are going to ask me and Charlene kung may plano kami now, wala talaga. We're okay with our set-up now, tamang-tama. We have so much time for each other, we have so much time para sa hanap buhay namin, we have so much time for our kids and their schools and our personal life
Sam Milby says he has a big crush on Sarah Geronimo
Sam Milby is not surprised that some people are entertaining the idea of him being romantically linked to Sarah Geronimo now that they are working together on the upcoming kantaserye Idol. In an interview with Sam last August 15 at backstage at ASAP XV, Sam said that being linked to his leading ladies every time he has a project is not new to him. “It’s always expected na ganun ang tanong, ganun ang mga tsismis dahil may project kami, [kung] may chance ba, ‘di ba?” he acknowledged. But Sam pointed out that he does not let these issues prevent him from doing his work well. “To me, I just want to enjoy the project,” he said. He quickly added that he is not ruling out that the possibility of developing special feelings for Sarah, especially that he has been vocal about having a big crush on the Pop Star Princess. “Dati kong sinasabi na crush ko siya.”
Sam described Sarah as someone with a pure and a good heart. “When you hear her laugh, I don’t know why but I love her laugh a lot. Nakakatawa. She’s a fun person to be with, mabait, very caring accommodating sa lahat. Syempre she’s on top.”
The actor said that he is not bothered by reports that Sarah’s parents are very strict when it comes to boys, including her co-stars. “Parang sinasabi kong liligawan ko siya, hindi naman ganon,” Sam explained. “I just want to enjoy the project.”
Besides, Sam shared that he and Sarah are not yet really close. Aside from seeing each other on ASAP XV, Sam said that they have not yet spent much time together taping for their teleserye. He said that their conversations usually revolve around concerts and music and they have not yet opened up about really personal stuff life. “Hindi naman kami ganun ka-close so huwag n’yo akong tanungin sa mga ganun,” Sam said.
Meantime, Sam said that he still has constant communications with international singer Marie Digby, who is based in the US. After he clarified that they are not yet a couple, Sam denied reports that he has introduced Marie to his parents but admitted that he talked to them about Marie. Sam also said that his parents have some advice for him when it comes to love issues. “’Just be careful with your heart. Siyempre alam nila na [‘yung nasaktan ako before]… they never met her (Marie) but they know… basta they just tell me, ‘Take care of your heart.’”
In the meantime, Sam said that he continues to enjoy communicating with Marie via cell phone since they live far apart. “[We’re] still in the same phase. Texting-texting kami. Actually nasa Japan siya ngayon pero babalik na siya sa US. We’re always talking naman.Kahit at least a few texts a day,” he revealed.
The actor stressed that although they know that they like each other very much, they are not yet a couple. “I’ve never been in a long distance relationship. We have no commitment. There’s no exclusively dating, we’re just like talking, texting each other each day.”

Lorna Tolentino is excited about her movie comeback in 'Sa 'Yo Lamang
Lorna Tolentino is very excited about her return to the big screen as she top-bills the Star Cinema offering Sa ‘Yo Lamang. She shared that the three years of not doing movies enabled her to deliver a different kind of performance. “After three years, ngayon lang ako uli gagawa ng pelikula. Si Ricky (Lee, writer of Sa ‘Yo Lamang) naman after five years ngayon lang uli sumulat ng pelikula. So alam mo talaga dito nandun ‘yung passion, ‘yung hunger to do something really great.”
Lorna’s last teleserye was Dahil May Isang Ikaw, but she is still seen as a recurring character in Momay. Although there’s no doubt about her impressive talent as an actress, she explained that when she did Sa ‘Yo Lamang with Direk Laurice Guillen, she was told that an actor should deliver a performance in films that is different from that in TV dramas. “Na-challenge rin kaming mga artista kasi si Direk inisip niyang napakarami nang teleserye. Dapat maiba ang acting mo sa teleserye sa ibibigay mo sa pelikula. Kapag may eksena kami kay Direk lagi niyang sinasabi na hindi ito telebisyon. So aware ka na na dapat iba ang ipakita mo. Sa TV kasi ipapataas sa iyo ‘yung emosyon kasi gap ender. Dito sa movie may mga times na basang basa kami ng pawis dahil sa sobrang tensyon.”
The 48-year-old star is best remembered for having portrayed many strong characters in unforgettable movies like Maging Akin Ka Lamang, Nagbabagang Luha, and Narito Ang Puso Ko. But according to Lorna, she still found her role as Amanda in Sa ‘Yo Lamang challenging to do. “Ang role ng isang may asawa at ina ‘yun ang talagang hawig sa mga nagawa ko dati. Pero ‘yung role ko talaga na Amanda dito e kakaiba. Iba ang pinagdaanan niya kesa sa mga babaeng roles na ginawa ko. Si Amanda mas malalim na ‘yung pagiging ina niya, asawa, at bilang tao. Siyempre noon mas bata pa kami kaya kung ikukupara mo sa mga characters namin ngayon mas malalim na.”
While Lorna is undoubtedly aging gracefully, she admitted she gets help from beauty clinics which she explained is really important for actors. But for her the real secret in keeping a youthful look is remaining optimistic. “Aside from dapat positive thinking ka palagi, dapat talaga alagaan mo ang katawan mo. Lahat ng artista dapat alaga sa hitsura. You grow old gracefully, tanggapin mo. In two years I’ll turn 50 na.”

oni Gonzaga admits past feelings for Sam Milby on The Buzz
Nilinaw ni Sam Milby kahapon sa The Buzz na wala talagang katotohanan ang mga bali-balitang sila na ng Youtube sensation na si Marie Digby pero hindi niya itinangging mas lalo silang close ngayon. “A lot of people think na kami na pero ako I like her, she likes me,” simula ni Sam sa panayam niya with Toni Gonzaga. “I do like her, napakabait talaga. Maganda (at) talented.” Gayunpaman hindi sila nagkikita dahil naka-base sa United States si Marie samantalang siya naman ay dito sa Pilipinas.
Nag-concert si Marie dito sa Pilipinas last year at doon sila nagkakilala ni Sam. Dalawang beses silang nag-date pero hindi na ito naulit nang bumalik sa US ang female singer. Hanggang sa ngayon daw ay patuloy pa ang komunikasyon nila sa pamamagitan ng phone. Toni mentioned na nabalita na nagpunta si Sam at Marie sa Boracay at kinumpirma naman ito ng aktor.
Sa tuksuhan nina Toni at Sam tungkol sa love life ay muling nabuksan ang paksa ng kanilang nakaraan at sila ay nagkaaminan. Matatandaang nagkaroon ng nakaraan ang dalawa at nagtambal sa ilang pelikula na naging box-office hits pero hindi nauwi sa totohanan ang kanilang love-team. “Nung single ako nilaan ko talaga ang panahon ko sa ‘yo,” pag-amin ni Toni kay Sam. “Pero at that time busy si Sam, andami niyang ginagawa. Na-distract ka din. There were distractions along the way,” pagbubulgar pa ng actress-host.
Sumagot naman si Sam at sinabing kahit si Toni ay naging busy rin at alam din daw ni Toni kung ano ang nararamdaman ni Sam sa kanya noon. Nagbiro pa tuloy si Toni kay Sam kung bakit daw ngayon siya nagsasalita kung kailan may kanya-kanya na silang buhay at committed na ngayon si Toni sa director na si Paul Soriano.
Samantala, babalik sa primetime block si Sam Milby sa pamamagitan ng upcoming kantaserye, ang Idol na katatampukan din ni Sarah Geronimo, Coco Martin, ZsaZsa Padilla, Agot Isidro at marami pang iba.
Pokwang to Willie Revillame: ‘Nasaktan kita, nasaktan din ako’
Emosyunal na humarap si Pokwang sa The Buzz kahapon upang sagutin ang mga isyung ibinabato niya. Unang tinalakay ang isyung lumaki na raw ang ulo ng komedyante kung kaya’t marami ang bumabatikos sa kanya. “Ganun talaga kapag alam mo ang karapatan mo, alam mo kung paano mangatwiran,” paliwanag ni Pokwang. “’Pag lumabas ang boses (mo), para sa kanila malaki na ang ulo.” Batayan daw na hindi totoo ang paratang na ito ang patuloy na pagdating ng mga proyekto sa kanya. “Sa trabahong ito, ‘pag lumaki ang ulo mo, wala ka nang trabaho at ‘pag nawalan ako ng trabaho paano naman po ‘yung umaasa sa akin? Kaya hinding-hindi ko po magagawa ang magmalaki.”
Nagsalita rin si Pokwang hinggil sa isyung isa sa kondisyon ni Willie Revillame noon sa naudlot niyang pagbabalik sa Wowowee ay ang tanggalin sina Pokwang at Mariel Rodriguez sa show. “Siyempre po nagulat ako kasi bilang ginagawa lang po namin ang trabaho, sa dami pa po ng mas maliliit ang suweldo sa amin sa Wowowee, mas kailangan po nila ng trabaho talaga,” sagot ni Pokwang.
Tatlong taon daw silang nagsama ni Willie sa dating noontime show at naniniwala si Pokwang na ang sentimyento sa kanya ni Willie ay dulot ng sabi-sabi ng iba na nasa paligid ng controversial host. “Siguro dahil na lang po sa nasa paligid diyan na pilit pinaglalayo ang landas namin. Sa totoo lang wala akong ano kay Kuya (Willie). Hindi po totoong wala akong utang na loob, na ingrata ako. Marunong po akong tumanaw ng utang na loob,” pagdidiin niya. “Kaya lang kasi magsalita ka’t hindi, sila ang magiging husga… ang mga malalapit sa kanya.” Gayunpaman nagpapasalamat si Pokwang sa ABS-CBN dahil hindi raw siya pinabayaan.
Hindi pa man sila nakakapag-usap ni Willie ay nagbigay na lang ito ng mensahe sa dating katrabaho. “Nagkasakitan tayo, nasaktan kita and nasaktan din ako sa mga nangyayari. Pasensiya na Kuya pero isa lang talaga ang wish ko sa birthday ko, mawala na ang lahat ng mga ito (intriga)...napakaliit ng industriyang ito, alam ko one day magkakaharap din kami.”

Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez keep mum about wedding issue
Bumalik na ng Pilipinas sina Robin Padilla at Mariel Rodriguez galing sa bakasyon sa India. Naging mailap naman ang dalawa hinggil sa isyung nagpakasal na raw sila doon. Hindi nila kinumpirma o itinanggi ang nasabing isyu. Paliwanag pa ni Mariel, hindi ito ang tamang panahon para sagutin ang isyu dahil mas may importanteng isyu na kailangan nilang kaharapin.
“There’s a proper time to talk about that (wedding issue). Right now, there are bigger issues that we have to tackle, it’s regarding his son Ali,” ani Mariel patukoy sa isyung napapabayaan daw ng kanyang boyfriend na si Robin ang kanyang mga anak, ayon sa dating asawa ng action superstar na si Liezl Sycangco na naka-base ngayon sa Australia.
Sinabi ni Robin na kailangan daw niyang pauwiin ang bunsong anak na si Ali sa kanyang ina.
Samantala, nilinaw rin ni Mariel na hindi niya iiwan ang Pilipinas Win na Win gaya ng mga nasulat na balita. Dagdag pa niya, nagbabakasyon lamang siya. “I’m only on an indefinite leave. I did not resign. I did not turn my Twitter on, I only sent one photo,” kuwento ni Mariel at na-enjoy daw talaga niya ang privacy.
Oyo Boy Sotto on wedding plans with Kristine Hermosa: 'Kung ano young sinabi ni mommy, yun lang muna'
Kristine Hermosa and Oyo Boy Sotto graced the Us Girls August Awards 2010 at the Icon Bar, Intercontinental Hotel last Friday. Kristine Hermosa, tied with fellow Star Magic artist Kim Chiu, won the Face of the Year Award. Us Girls Iya Villiania, Cheska Garcia and Angel Aquino described Kristine as a "mesmerizing beauty" when she accepted the award on stage.
However, Kristine and Oyo were barraged with questions from the press about actress Dina Bonnevie’s (Oyo’s mother) revelations that they are getting married next year. Everyone only had speculations of the wedding when Kristine admitted to Showbiz News Ngayon that she and Oyo are officially together. Dina announced in another interview though that her son and Kristine already have plans of settling down. But the couple was elusive when it came to questions about the wedding. "Di ko rin alam, e. Nagulat lang din ako. Basta kung ano yung sinabi ni mommy, yun lang muna then malalaman niyo naman kung ano yung mga mangyayari," Oyo vaguely confirmed to the reporters present.
ABS-CBN.com asked Kristine though if she feels contended with her life now. "Oo naman. Super happy. Super," was the actress’s only answer.
