Mariel Rodriguez is on indefinite leave from Pilipinas Win na Win. In an interview with ABS-CBN before boarding a plane at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport last August 17, Mariel said she will just go on a vacation. “I'm going away. Magbabakasyon.” She added that she is planning to visit India. “Yeah, I'm going to India. I'm going wherever kung saan man ako dadalhin ng paa ko.”
Mariel is not sure when she will return to Pilipinas Win na Win, but she vowed that she will definitely come back to her hosting job. "Hindi ko alam. I really don't know. It can be a week, it can be a month, or whatever. Babalik ako, promise. Thank you so much and be happy for me," was her message to her friends and fans.
The 26-year-old TV host-actress left the country amidst controversy started by Liezl Sicangco, the ex-wife of Robin Padilla. Now that Robin is courting Mariel, Liezl claimed that Robin no longer has time to take care of their children. Mariel refused to comment on this issue, but said that she had just taped an exclusive tell-all interview with Bianca Gonzalez to be aired on Entertainment Live on August 21.
Mariel’s manager Boy Abunda also made a statement on Showbiz News Ngayon. “So lahat ng katanungan kung saan siya pupunta, gaano katagal, sino ang kasama, buntis ba si Mariel, lahat ng katanungan ay sasagutin ni Mariel sa interview niya [with Bianca].” Also, before anyone could speculate, Mariel denied that the reason she is leaving is because she is pregnant with Robin child.
