Now that Gretchen Barretto’s rift with Angelica Panganiban has been finally resolved, the stylish actress feels that countless blessings have been coming her way nowadays. Last Sunday (August 8) on The Buzz, Angelica apologized to Gretchen whose naughty comment provoked Angelica to say some harsh things against the Magkaribal actress.
Relieved that she and Angelica are okay now, Gretchen said that it is not nice that they fight since they are both Kapamilya stars. She even acknowledged that their recent rift was partly her fault and that some people close to her have reprimanded her for her being naughty. “Sinermonan na kami ng management, Tita Mariole (Star Magic head) told me, ‘Don’t be naughty! No fighting!’ I said, ‘I’m not fighting, I’m just being naughty.’
“It was also my mistake na I always cater to the audience na, I know you are trying to drive at something so parang ibinibigay ko naman, pero nakakalimutan ko may mga nasasagasaan, may mga nasasaktan. Mali naman talaga ‘yung ginawa ko. Buti na lang hindi ako sinabunutan, ‘yung hair extensions ko,” she said with a laugh.
With the happiness she has in her personal and professional life, Gretchen said that she just wants to be positive. “So many things had happened and maraming blessings so, I really don’t like war.” Inspired by Angelica’s recent show of humility, Gretchen apologized to those she might have hurt before. “Kung talagang tunay kang matapang, dapat matapang ka rin mag-sorry, matapang ka na ma-realize mo na nagkamali ka. Now I realize na kung meron akong nasaktan sa pagka-naughty ko, I’m sorry. Hindi na ako nakikipag-away, wala na akong time, ha ha ha!”
ABS-CBN.com also asked Gretchen if she will stop being naughty after the incident. “I don’t know if I can totally change but one thing is for sure, gusto kong magbago for the better,” she replied and added that she should be wiser while getting older. “Ang daming nagsasabi, sinermonan na ako ni Marjorie (Barretto, sister), my brothers, si Tony (Boy Cojuangco, partner), ‘Oh my gosh, will you stop it! That was done in bad taste!’ So I paid the price, ha ha ha! Everybody sinermunan ako na will you please grow up, but I’m having fun can I take my time?” she joked.
The dramatic actress said that she has not yet talked directly to Angelica although she sent a text message to Derek Ramsay, Angelica’s boyfriend (who is also Gretchen’s leading man in Magkaribal), thanking him for helping her and Angelica close the gap. Though Gretchen revealed that that her text message to Derek included a message for Angelica, the ‘80s actress prefers to meet up Angelica in person. “Siyempre mas gusto ko na magkita kami in person and really to talk about things,” said Gretchen. Although they may be both busy now, she believes that she will meet Angelica very soon.
Gretchen said that she wants the issue with Angelica to be put to an end and would like to make a new start. “I don’t really dwell on the past. Kung ano man ‘yung naramdaman ko I don’t want to refresh that in my memory or in my emotion. Tapos na ‘yun. I just want to enjoy the moment. I want something positive that we can look forward to,” she said.
