Sam Concepcion feels honored to be considered as someone who will most likely take after Gary Valenciano and Billy Crawford. In a previous interview, Mr. Pure Energy had named Billy and Sam as the two young artists today who are most likely to be heirs to his throne.
“Sa totoo lang po for someone like me na compared to Billy and Tito Gary is hard to believe na sabihan ka na you’re the next them,” he admitted during his contract signing as the new image model of Ever Bilena’s Blackwater Jr. cologne spray, last September 1. “Parang you look up to someone na [it] never crossed your mind na ‘yung idol mo mismo [sasabihin na susunod ka sa mga yapak niya]. It’s really hard for me to believe [that], in a good way. I’m really humbled by it [and] flattered by it din.”
The 17-year-old performer also revealed some advice Gary V had given him before. “May sinabi si Tito Gary once in ASAP, na para sa mga bagong artists, there never will be another Gary Valenciano dahil what we should be is our own, parang ganon.” Sam explained that this really made an impact on him. “You come to your own… it’s very inspiring to see that ‘yung bagong artists na katulad namin…na ‘yung mga advice na ganon, absorb it and take it all in, make the most of that.”
Sam also clarified that he has no girlfriend at present and that people might have misinterpreted the time he was seen on ASAP XV with his arms around a female celeb. He said that he is just that way with his very close friends. “Wala akong girlfriend kasi ngayon maraming ginagawa, may ASAP, at isang youth-oriented show with ABS-CBN na tinatrabaho na namin,” he said excitedly.
