Robin Padilla clarified that the real stars of Pilipinas Win na Win are not the hosts of the noontime show, but the audience. The action star went on to say that Pilipinas Win na Win was conceptualized for the purpose of entertaining viewers. “Lalo po nating gagawing bida ang mga tao. Sila ang bida [at] kami po’y tagapangasiwa lamang,” stressed Robin. “Nanatili at magiging bida unang-una siyempre ang mga kababayan nating Pilipino. Yun ang sisiguraduhin ko.”
The action superstar explained that he is ecstatic to work again with Kris after many years. He acknowledged that Kris is undeniably one of today’s most highly respected showbiz personalities and having to work with her again is definitely a great privilege. He said that he will give his one hundred percent support to Kris as his co-host on Pilipinas Win na Win. The two last worked together on the 2003 film You and Me Against the World where they supposedly had a romantic relationship off camera.
Robin laughed at the suggestion of a romance rekindling between him and Kris, now that they are single in essence. “Para ring Wowowee ‘yan, kasaysayan na po ‘yon [at] dapat na lang nating tingnan sa libro at mapanood na lamang sa kasaysayan ng pelikula at ng telebisyon. Magkaiba na ang mundo namin,” he said, but quickly added that their “partnership” as hosts could definitely help in drawing viewers from all over the world.
Jay Montelibano, Business Unit Head of Pilipinas Win na Win, confirmed that they are confident that the team-up of Kris and Robin can contribute hugely in drawing in more viewers. “We know Kris being multimedia queen and bihasa na siya sa hosting na may mga ganyang palaro.” Kris previously hosted game shows Pilipinas, Game KNB? and Pilipinas, Deal or No Deal. “Robin has the charisma. Actually we have a very interesting combination with both,” he continued. “Iisa kasi ‘yung adhikain, ‘yung mapasaya ‘yung tao. Both have the heart, both have the passion [so it’s] very, very interesting."
Though Robin has admitted that he is courting fellow co-host Mariel Rodriguez, he appeared uncomfortable with questions about the real score between him and Mariel and told members of the press that more than their supposed relationship, their main concern is to be able to bring the show closer to their viewers. “Ang isyu na po na ‘yan ay baka makaagaw pa sa [Pilipinas] Win na Win. Tsaka na natin pag-usapan po ‘yan pagka tatawirin na natin ‘yung ilog na tatawirin.”
